Accountable Learning

I've decided to add a blog to my portfolio website as a way to keep myself accountable while continuing to learn and improve as a software developer.

My main focus going forward is developing my understanding of AI and exploring how tools such as Claude Code and Claude Design can be used in software development.

My AI First Project

My first project using this approach was building fergusthomas.dev.

It's been interesting seeing where Claude Code is particularly useful, as well as discovering some of its limitations. I'm keen to better understand where AI can genuinely improve the development process while still making sure I understand the code I'm building.

What's Next?

My next project will be a slightly larger application that I will actually use myself and hopefully something other people can use too.

I'm planning to build a job application tracker where users can create an account and keep track of the jobs they are applying for.

I'll be documenting the process here, including what I learn, the decisions I make, and the challenges I run into along the way.
